musing...

This is most definitely NOT a current OOTD, as we just received another light dusting of snow outside.  However it might set me up for some inspirations come spring, especially as I continue to explore long-skirtitude.  The adorably witty JG posted this challenge as a new style feature last week, to create an outfit of inspired by Tara's sunny photo, comprised of items already in your closet.

I simply had to take on the challenge since I had a few items in my closet that I've had trouble incorporating into my wardrobe.

vintage chairs skirt via Dethrose Vintage, leaf green (lime greeney) henley, rust silk scarf from Urban Outfitters
Clarks Erda sandals

I have a weakness for typologies, so a skirt full of different chair illustrations?  Sold!  Though it's harder to work than anticipated, I am convinced I can find some ways to wear it come spring that don't scream 'frumpy!'
It works quite well as a shorter skirt, of course:
J Crew Jackie burnt cinnamon cardigan, Gap oatmeal henley with rust tank top.
I am fully obsessed with finding pale minty-green drapey t-shirts all of a sudden, which just don't seem to exist right now.  Any leads?  At least the rust is, and I've spied some gorgeous off-brown tones at Zara too this season!

  1. First up, you changed your banner! Very cute! Second, your skirt totally reminds me of the chair print anna sui dress anthropologie had a while back, that's pretty neat :) I like that skirt as a shorter one as well, I am sure you can put together some great outfits with it the spring and summer.

  2. like Jess, i too noticed your new header! It looks so cute and very clever.
I saw your interpretation of Tara's outfit on JG's blog and thought it was splendid. The chair print has a whimsical feel about it.
Sorry, i can't help you on the pale mint shirts but will alert you when i see something!

  3. i love the chair printed skirt! how cute and unique...i love pieces like that. plus i love how you're wearing it at 2 different lengths. both look great on you. as far as pale-minty shirts, jcrew (my personal obsession) is always good for pale colors. i haven't seen anything lately, but with their spring items hitting the racks, i'm sure something will pop up. good luck and you look great!

ps ~ love the new header. ~ susan

  4. I love your interpretation! Very nice! The colors are great and that skirt is super cool:)

    J. Crew has some great minty colors, but I don't know about the drapey part. I'll let you know if I come across anything.

  5. Your interpretation is great! The skirt is amazingly awesome, I like both the shorter and longer looks!

As for the drapey minty green shirts, I have not come across one that sticks out. I have been looking for some minty green (I only own one green clothing item!) and j crew is hitting the spot. You can for sure eliminate Zara-I just checked them out and they have zilch in the way of mint.

  7. Nice Header :) I really think your skirt is so unique. The chairs have me going GAGA. I love the 2 outfits so much. The first is great because of the fresh yummy lime color. The second outfit I adore. The Belt, The cardigan and the skirt and how they look. And I am totally jealous. But This was a treat to see. I wish I was a bit more creative that way. Pretty darn good job. Have a Great weekend.

  14. Orange is in this season. I'd try a thrift shop or Ebay for the color you're looking for. I love both outfits w/the skirt. Love the skirt, too. You're so good w/the mixy and the matchy.

  17. This skirt looks really great on you, short or long, I like how you can adjust the length whenever you want. And I don't know where you can find a mint green drapey tshirt...somewhere that sells good basics maybe? Gap? Club Monaco? I'll let you know if I spot anything!
